It's Friday. This week was a hard one... we had some tantrums and hot tempers were flaring around our house... I don't know about you, but in my house that means that THAT time of the month is just around the corner. It's chocolate time.

I learned the hard way to just relax (even more) when school doesn't flow as easily and I am very on the edge. Why stress myself and anger my children?

Although, it's not easy for me to relax (I am a type A personality!) I do it for my sake and let the kids learn using media like computer, movies, TV, the android, computers, movies...

Anyway, the reason for this post... I began Spring Cleaning already. Anyone else??

I love books. I read a lot. Although I like to have books at my fingertips, I don't like to collect them. I love to see books lined up on book shelves but not in my house. The sight gives me the jitters. I hate stuff! I really do. I don't know where that came from but I don't like to have lots of anything. I love to go to the library, but don't want my house to be one.

The other day I was talking to another Mom about decluttering and she was telling me that she had to be merciless to do it. I told her that I thought I was doing pretty good but I still felt I had too much stuff. Just as an example, my walk in closet contains all my family's clothes... Mine, my husband's and all my children's clothing. I have 4 children. But every time, I go in there, I feel claustrophobic. No, it's not messy or disorganized. But all the shelves are lined with clothes, towels, boxes and things. There is not one little EMPTY space. At all.

So going back to the books... I am getting rid of my books. If you homeschool and are looking for some Sally Clarkson books, or the Maxwells, or parenting books... be sure to check my FOR SALE page. A musical day in my homeschooling household.

Today was a good day, you know, the kind where there was no screaming or fighting. We did devotions and I felt the children actually learned something because they were interested and asking questions. We did some school without grumbling or complaining. I managed to clean a bathroom and vacuum the whole house. Laundry was also folded and put away and I even managed to wash a load too.

I think I could definitely have some happy tune playing in the background. :)


So after lunch, my two oldest practiced their typing on the computer on the BBC website. As I was browsing the site with my DD4 to find her something, we found this quick lesson on instruments and orchestra disguised as a mystery game. DD8 and DD4 worked through the lessons together and had a great time. I learned some new things and felt like a "super homeschooling Mom".

Ha!! Today was definitely a good day and to make it even better, it's Friday. :) Thank you Lord for blessing us!!

More Beatriz Jennings

Hi everybody,


I hope you are enjoying this last part of Summer.

Today I have some cards to share. As I shared HERE I bought some Digital collages created by Beatriz Jennings. She is a designer and has been published many times on various magazines. Recently she began creating her own digital sheets that you can use on cards and even scrapbook layouts. You can find a link to her Etsy shop on her blog.

  

Here is a close up of that darling label she made. I created the card with a birthday or encouragement in mind, but once I was done I realized that it could be a Christmas card too!!

 

This is a baby card that I made using her scrabble letter digital sheet. They are adorable. I am completely addicted to them!!

As a background Daisy D's baby scrapbook papers. They are old but I loooove them. I save every little piece of scrap to use them in my cards or even in mini albums.

This rose bud is made of cotton t-shirts. In my house, I use our old, torn clothes as rags. Sometimes they are kitchen rags, wash rags and sometimes I tear up some strips and transform them into roses.

Even the leaves are cut from the fabric and then I dye them with distressed ink pads. So easy!

I have an announcement to make...

I have great news to share... last Thursday I was in Atlanta for a quick trip and something special happened there... I promise to tell you all about it later this week...

In the mean time, I finished those 2 mini chipboard I told you about HERE. To your right there is the first sneak peek. The other one is listed in my Etsy shop.

I used Webster's Pages, Melissa Frances and Prima stamps on them.

Here is the one listed on Etsy. This one measures 6x6" and all the pages are chipboard that I cut myself.

The album is loaded with Melissa Frances goodness and even some handmade embellishments done by moi. :)

I am currently working on a boy version of the cardboard album I share HERE. It's turning out so fun!!

OperationWriteHome Birthday Bash

Fall is here!

All September long it was Birthday Bash celebration at OperationWriteHome. I wrote in and set a goal of 500 cards to send in, BUT I didn't meet my goal. I was able to create 110 cards only.

I have been so busy with our children. They are taking music lessons once a week. DD7 is learning piano and DS5 is learning the drums. Well, that was the initial plan but they are actually learning more. DS5 is also learning the bangos and DD7 is also playing the drums. About a month ago, God led me to a music shop in town and I was able to purchase an used working keyboard for $5.00!!! And last week, we purchased an electronic drum set for $200.00!!! So I guess we are preparing to become a worship band!! hahahaha Who knows!!???

Anyway, busy with that. Also I found a homeschool co-op that meets every other week and our social life has picked up a bit. :) My craft life has become second in my priorities. I have a lot of inventory in stock and I am cleaning up my studio. I have come up with a little marketing strategy to increase my sales in my Etsy shop and clean up the many treasures I have in stock.

Bridal cards for Summer wedding!

Christmas in May???

I am making cards for Operation Write Home and made some Christmas cards. These are smaller cards measuring 4.25x4.25" or 3.5x4.25" and are so adorable. They will fit into a A2 envelope without any problem.

I will also be sharing more on the ribbon technique later this week.

Catching up on my Custom Orders

After having a baby everything changes and your night becomes your day and your day becomes... uh... a mess!! Anyway, after 4 weeks of sleepless nights with my baby we are beginning to sleep again during the night. I am getting all my customers orders up to date and you should be able to start seeing albums and other things here.

Darling TAGS and a custom CARD!

I am on a roll... First I wanted to share a card that is a custom order. Some time back this sweet lady bought one of my cards and then she came back saying the recipient really liked it and was going to frame it. So she asked me to make her 3 more. As usual I can't duplicate my cards exactly, so I am making 3 more with the same elements but all different. Here is the first one.

Look what I have been doing...

As promised here are some of the cards I have made... they will be available in my Etsy shop as soon as I can list them. Hopefully tonight. :)

So what is next?

Baby is a month old now. Sleeping better, less colicky, gaining weight steadily, smiling and looking around. :) Daddy and siblings are bonding well and baby loves all the noise around her. Praise Jesus! I don't think I will ever have a quiet house again with 4 children. :)

anyway... my Mom and Dad are back in Brazil and I am once again in charge of my nest. I had to re-think a lot of things and organize my nest and my time. I have decided for now (it can change in a couple of weeks) to close my Etsy shop on April 10th. I have a sale going on now, so do stop by and check it out. Everything is ready to ship. I am no longer making them after the order is placed.

I really need to concentrate on my home and children right now so I am only making things and putting them for sale when I am inspired and I have the time, otherwise my family comes first and I will not stress. I love to create and sell my treasured creations and make custom orders, but I just can't right now and sacrifice my home and children. So, I will not stress and really enjoy the creative process. I will be making things because I am able (I got the time and there is no pressure) and because I enjoy. This is me preaching to myself, my own reminder.

Have you ever been caught in the rat race? It's difficult to imagine that one can create imaginable outside pressure and put oneself in the rat race. I have done it to myself many times. I need to learn to stop. So, I am stopping. :)

I have been inspired this past few weeks. I made a gorgeous 6x6 album for my Mom to take to Brazil. I never got photos though because it was raining and as usual I make things for her at the last minute. :) I made some cards and tags that went to Brazil as thank you gifts as well as to my dear friends who sent me baby gifts. Here are a few.




I have already some Mother's Day cards ready and other pretty shabby chic treasures to share. I will share them in the next post.
